Planetary Gear Set

As we started designing The Long Now Project, we quickly realized that the flying pendulum driven cube was going to be moving way too fast. Max rose to this challenge and through a process of iteration has developed an ingenious way to slow things down that involves concentric shafts (like a clock) and a planetary gear set.
