This is one of those lessons I re-learn every year and I believe it applies to all aspects of your life. The only way you have a chance of getting what you want from others … is if you are open about what you want! With an all-school cleanup coming up, I sent an email out to parents in search of adults with trade skills. One dad wrote me back and references his ability to build things. I took a risk and made a big ask – to create a piece of storage furniture I’d been wanting for a few years. I sent him a few brief emails and a sketch, then crossed my fingers.
Two days later, this PERFECT specimen rolled into my classroom.
It’s very easy for us teachers to get overwhelmed and we (at least, I) forget how much others are willing to help if we only reachout. Thanks so much Joe Mansfield!
